Toronto Island Longboat 10K run

I am inviting everyone to join Travis and me on the Longboat 10K run this year. It is the most fun and flattest 10K run you will ever do. Weather is usually great. You can read all about it here: http://www.torontoislandrun.com/

The Predicta Run 2010

Please join us for our annual “Predicta” race on Good Friday, April 2nd.

For those of you not familiar with a predicta, here’s how it works. You pick a course to run. You estimate your time to complete the run. You TAKE OFF YOUR WATCH and throw it into a basket. You go for a run. The person that completes the distance in the closest estimated time is the winner. It doesn’t matter how fast you run, just how consistently.

There are two routes: 15K and 10K routes

Date: Friday April 2, 2010 (Good Friday)

Race starts at 9:00am

Your host: Judy Smith/Georgetown Runners
90 Miller Drive, Georgetown South
(You can park at St. Bridget School across the street)

Please RSVP directly to judy@medteqsolutions.ca.

Please bring a favourite item for sharing at the brunch after the run.

$10 Running Club discount at Mercedes-Benz Oakville 10k, Apr. 25

Georgetown Runners, here’s the perfect race to enter to gauge the quality of your training AND save money at. It’s flat and fast through residential Oakville and even has scenic sections by the lake. It provides a technical race shirt, reusable kit bag and very cool finisher medal. But the wonder of this event are the draw prizes, foremost being a Mercedes-Benz B Class car – a free lease for a year! – plus $5000 in additional draw prizes. Your odds of winning a draw prize are much better than winning the race! It’s also a Road Warrior race offering extra prizes and double the series points. When on-line to register for the race, add our club name at the bottom and in the promotional code box use “runclub” to save yourself $10. If you register before March 1st you save an additional $5! www.mercedes10k.com .

Muskoka Loppet – Sunday January 24, 2010

The Muskoka Loppet has long been known for its great classic cross country ski racing. In addition to the 7km to 30km ski events, there will also be three snowshoe events. There are 3km and 9km races for individuals, and a 9km relay race.

The relay race is unique in that the two or three person teams must share just one pair of snowshoes. The organizers approach is to introduce this sport to as many people as possible. Not everyone owns snowshoes, so this way the teams can rent or borrow a pair and still have a lot of fun.

There are also lots of place and draw prizes, and a hot lunch is included.

Online registration and the simple rules of snowshoe racing can be found at
www.arrowheadnordic.ca

The Arrowhead Nordic Ski Club invites everyone to visit Huntsville for their annual event.
